More StarCraft II Units Revealed

Kotaku - June 13, 2007

Submitted by lassiterb (531) at 4:37PM PST on June 13, 2007

The August issue of PC Gamer magazine is packed with a preview disc featuring a brand new look at as-yet unannounced Protoss units for StarCraft II. The new units include the Soul Hunter, a mechanized ground unit, the Phase Cannon, a teleporting version of the Photon Cannon, the Tempest, the next evolution of the Protoss Carrier and the Twilight Archon which appears to be analogous to the original game's Dark Archon. There's also a painfully brief gameplay sequence, showing off additional units.

Insider Interview

Blizzard's official StarCraft 2 website has just been updated with an interview with Nick Carpenter, the game's cinematic creative director, chewing the fat over the technology behind the recently released trailer. The biggest point of discussion was on the balance of in-game cut-scenes, which will be "near-cinematic quality" thanks to the game's graphics engine, and pre-rendered cinematics.

Gaming in Korea - Starcraft, Lineage, etc

Gaming-Age.com -

With all of the discussion regarding the Korean influence on Starcraft, I felt that it was prudent to bring up an article that expressed how much impact such marketplaces can truly have. The article is older, but still just as meaningful. The second game mentioned, Lineage, is still just as potent as Starcraft and is being played proffesionally (as is Starcraft 1) and, as the article demonstrates, makes the potential sales of games like Starcraft and Starcraft 2 massive.

This article highlights 5 points where SC 2 differs from WC 3. It is a pretty interesting and very quick read.

Starcraft 1 Reaches Top 10 List Again

Thus the number of sales for SC 1 is even higher. This is good news for SCII, especially because people will have played SC 1 more recently before SCII releases than it has been for others. Also notice WC III is in the top 10 too.

An early version of StarCraft 2 was offered to a few people to play at BlizzCon. Still no release date however. (Beta coming up?) Also Blizzard gave away a load of new screenshots. (Extreme!)

The game that graced the worldwide top 10's of best selling games for 2 years after its release in 1998, is finally making its comeback. It's been a long wait but one that looks to have been worth it.
