Starcraft II is very likely to become one of the best-selling games of all time. Industry sources (via Fudzilla) report that the game is expected to sell some six to seven million copies within its first fiscal year. That would be $171 million in profit and a total of $350 million in sales. By contrast, the original Starcraft has sold some 9.5 million copies.

Blizzard Entertainment announced at a recent StarCraft II event in Seoul that subscribers for World of Warcraft will be able to play Starcraft 2 for free as long as their WoW account remains active.

Blizzard on Thursday revealed a StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty pricing model that it hopes will make the game more appealing to gamers in emerging markets such as Mexico, Argentina and Chile. Blizzard is offering fully localized versions of the PC real-time strategy game for the South American countries for a suggested retail price of around $25-$30USD. That's about half of what it costs for the standard U.S. version, which Blizzard said would cost $59.99.

Blizzard – makers of StarCraft, Diablo, and Warcraft – has a long relationship with Apple, but hasn't been tossing as many titles their way of late. However, Blizzard is stepping up its Mac efforts as well. Blizzard just released a beta version of the upcoming StarCraft II for Mac.

GameStop Offering Starcraft 2 Beta Keys for Pre-Orders

If you haven't had luck finding a beta code for StarCraft 2, GameStop may be the solution to get in. Kotaku reports that the retail chain is offering beta keys to those who pre-order. The code is printed on the receipt, or users can order online and receive the code via e-mail or by going into a store to pick it up.

Activision Blizzard has delayed the release of StarCraft II until the first half of 2010 to coincide with the launch of its new Battle.net game service, which it says will be "similar to Xbox Live."
