Nintendo has confirmed that Wii Fit will be hitting stores on April 25th. The title has already performed spectacularly in Japan, where it has sold 1.2 million units since its release just nine weeks ago.

The Japanese have been getting to grips with the Balance Board and Wii Fit for over a month - measuring their BMI, hula hooping and stretching their way to better health. North Americans already knew that the title would be reaching them ‘early’ this year, and now we learn that Wii Fit will arrive in Europe this spring.

Nintendo’s latest motion-control hit has debuted to one day sales of more than 650,000 units in the Americas. At a penny shy of $90 in the USA, the game debuted to a day sales total of roughly $60 million. Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Nintendo’s top week one debut ever in the Americas, by comparison debuted at 950,000 units in the Americas bringing its total to $47.5 million on day one.

Wii Fit was biggest selling game in Japan in FY 2007

According to Famitsu figures, Nintendo’s Wii Fot was the biggest selling game in Japan last year with 1.76 million units sold for the period ending March 30 2008. Mario Party DS was second with 1.66 million, and Wii Sports was in third place with 1.62 million. More through the link.
