Gran Turismo fans still have around 12 months to wait for a full sequel to appear on PS3, according to SCEA. The last we heard on a release date for GT5 came from the mouth of the game's director Kaunori Yamauchi who said it could be pushed back as far as late 2008. Seems he needed to add a few months on top.
Series creators Polyphony Digital have broken with tradition and included an F1 car in Gran Turismo 5. For the bargain-basement price of 2 million in-game credits, you'll be able to pick up the Ferrari F2007 and take it for a spin. Poignantly, this is being called "God Mode".
Very interesting data, full shipment numbers breakdown by each region (South Korea, Japan, Asia, Europe, NA) You can see the popularity of this franchise especially in Europe.
@Stitch, GT5 Prologue is not the same as GT5, like many other games they have split up the title into multiple games to capitalize on the brand power of the franchise, just like GTHD was a separate game as well.
IIRC GT5 is slotted for a Christmas 08 release.
As Gran Turismo 5 Prologue comes out in April I think it should IPO for April when they launch the futures, if it's not on the list already it should be added (sorry haven't been keeping up to date on upcoming futures).
Question: is this stock for GT5 Prologue or another title called GT5? What exactly is GT5 Prologue? If it is a different game entirely, why don't we have a stock for GT5 Prologue listed? Thanks.
well with prologue being released i cant see the final version being much more than a year away so your looking at next march-april time. im just taking a rough guess at the numbers i make no claim to say theyre acurate, its just about what i expect them to be roughly, probably closer to the 20mil mark than 15 tbh and maybe slightly more all depending on how the ps3 does. of course i could be wrong and the game gets delayed until holiday season 2009 but to me my predictions seem reasonable although they are admittedly speculation.
i have no stake in this stock atm due to reasons i posted previously so am just trying to get the communities opinions on the game.
@vGInfidel, How do you know that the PS3 install base will be the numbers that you predict if the release date for this title has yet to be announced? Just wondering.
well in that case i think this stock is fairly overvalued atm, considering the ps3's install base will probably be around 15-20mil when its released, this price would mean around half of owners would pick the game up. i cant think any game has had an attatch rate of 50%, to me it seems extremely high especially for a racing game which wont appeal to everyone and the ps3's current hardware/software ratios.
i believe GT4 sold roughly around the same amount as the current prediction and that was when the ps2 had a massive install base.
im wary of shorting this though as i know it will probably ride a tide of fanboy support for quite some time until its release and we get some hard numbers.
@vGInfidel, I believe this is only GT 5 full version for predicting its sales because GT 5 Prologue is being released as a standard game/sku. I submitted GT 5 Prologue, a week or 2 ago, so that it could get listed.
is this prediction based on the prologue and the proper game when its finally released added together or is it just the final version or even prologue only. i know rereleases such as platinum hits are counted as total sales in other stocks but ive not seen a stock where there is an unfinised version released as a half game before the final build is released, so id appreciate it if someone could clear it up for me. thanks in advance.
