@-THE-RAY-, I think the thought is that the game is being reordered by retailers. Capcom had previously announced shipment numbers and we thought that was the cap on this stock, but it appears there is additional demand. However, I think this game is getting aged and don't see reorders continuing.
Jack Symon director of brand marketing at Capcom Entertainment:
"It's too early to compare results to the earlier releases, but the pacing on sales of the title is very strong and we continue to receive reorders from retail," he added. "Interestingly, anecdotal reporting from some retailers in the first two weeks indicated that more than 50% of the players purchasing RE4 Wii Edition had purchased one of the previous versions."
Luckily it appears to have come back down somewhat to reality. I still think it can shave another 10 DKP. After Christmas sales of this title will definately slow to < 1000 per week, putting it well below a million lifetime.
Something pretty special would have to happen for this title to reach 1 million SOLD before it is delisted.
Well, VGchartz does have this game at around 450k sold already when you combine the numbers for Japan and the Americas. (and MC/Famitsu and NPD data released make those numbers seem quite reliable) Add in the sales of Europe and the game should have sold a big part of those 750k units already.
The sales data for Pirates of the Caribean that we have (from VGchartz only) however doesn't show sales in line with selling 2.5M units among all platforms. That doesn't mean the simexchange can't undervaluing the game, and with the huge difference between the shipped numbers and the ones from the exchange it even seems likely, but when people don't know for sure they just seem to stay away from these shares.
I find it odd that we get a SHIPPED statement and the stock EXPLODES to new heights yet when we hear 2.5 million shipped for all versions of Pirates of the Caribean we all shrug and say 'show us the sales'.
Is this just Wii fever rather than rational thought?
Oh I forgot one obvious point, when a game ships 750k to retail, it usually doesn't SELL more than 750k. We don't count roadside copies :)
Until we know of more shipments, I have no reason to believe this supply will be exhausted soon, and by the time it is, sales of ResWiiEvil4 to be anemic at best.
I'm with you on this. I believe ideas of this game selling more than 1 million copies on the Wii to be a little fanciful considering the competition this has in the next quarter.
I am targeting this stock for the 85-95 DKP range for global lifetime sales
Crap I just realised that the game is already priced at 29.99, so its probably unlikely to get reduced any further. Still could play a part in further sales though.
