I hear the game is extremely laggy online as well. There are also numerous issues with trying to find matches with friends. Often you end up with an "Unable to connect" problem when you try to join a friend's game.
@Joe80, The two problems could be both caused by one source, which is most likely the case. But the biggest problem is people not having good connections. I am sure that there are still some kinks to be worked out on Nintendo's side of things and Nintendo will fix them either through Wii firmware updates or some other method - as a more stable and fun online mode would be good for sales and more sales equals more profit and Nintendo is a company that looks especially at ways to make more profit.
@lstormy10, That's strange then because users were having issues with both not being able to do spectator mode (already addressed by Nintendo) & not being able to access any Wifi options (would then be not addressed by Nintendo if what you are saying is true). So that makes things even more complicated.
@GoblinMerchant, I remember GameMetrics reporting that Halo 3, Madden, and GTA IV would be the top selling games last year (this is of course before GTA was delayed), but they did not mention anything about Call of Duty 4 or Wii Play (who were the third and second best selling games last year after Halo 3 being the top). I would say that GameMetrics is correct on their saying that the title could sell over 1.5 millin by mid-April and I expect that the part they will be correct is "over." Our current number for March is possible as many stores are reporting that they are sold out and a signifcant majority got 50+ copies.
@Joe80, They do not fall under the same umbrella as they are for the most part separate entities in the title. From personal experience, I have not had any issues with the online in Brawl. I think something that people are forgetting is that the connection is direct over the internet to other Wiis - there are no servers - so if someone has a really slow connection they canr un experiences for others. I have at least 6 Mbps of speed and have only seen one slow down that lasted for a split second. One of my friends has a slower connection and has some problems with connecting and the like. I think the basic thing that underlines the online in SSBB at this time is that "your mileage will vary."
@kspraydad, That explains the spectator mode but they don't talk about Wifi options, but perhaps they fall under the same umbrella. Thanks for the link.
The GamerMetrics forecast is far below what we are targeting. Our March future is predicting 2.16 million units sold in just March alone. How accurate has GamerMetrics been in the past?
I think that Brawl will be one of those long-life titles, just like Wii Sports in japan and Mario Part 8, Mario & Sonic and those in ocident. His "for-all" and "offline-online" profile makes him the must-have title of the entire Wii library so far.
