Anyone have SSBB? Can they confirm or deny this new problem someone has posted about? Judging by his post count, registered date, & images it looks like he may be honest. He claims " It seems that reports are cropping up at online messageboards that certain gamers are unable to view or access the WiFi Options and Spectator Modes in Super Smash Bros. Brawl."
IGN’s GamerMetrics analyst Scott Mucci has released data for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, showing that the title holds a "commanding" 17.08 mindshare on IGN.com among all titles releasing in March 2008.
Citing the Wii's success and the fact that SSBB is a "quality all-ages oriented title," Mucci expects the game could sell in excess of 1.5 million units by mid April, so long as retail supply holds steady, and will continue to lead game sales well into the month.
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl isn't a giant leap forward from Super Smash Bros. Melee." (9) "Repetition is Brawl's ... real crime." (2) The "beat-em-up gameplay [is] relatively unchanged" (3) -- "returning to your stock franchises ... shackles you to old ways." (2) "This game was made for Nintendo fans. ... For the uninterested gamer, it's a curious diversion." (7)
From my observations at gaming forums it seems that it is sold out at some areas. I would argue that the first shipment will be gone in some days. Do we have some words how much Nintendo has shipped on this one for release?
Well I guess Reggi will go ahead and throw out a number pretty soon if it is impressive enough.
@lstormy10, After participating in the GameStop tournament and seeing the line of people waiting to pick up the game, I can safely say that there were far more than just fifty people lined up yesterday. I called a friend who works at that GameStop to see if they had any copies left over and of the roughly 60 they had in stock, only 3 were left and those were saved for the people who had preordered but hadn't picked up their copy yet. This game is selling better than any other Nintendo game thus far. Even Galaxy couldn't sell out on opening day.
In relation to the March future, I have done some first hand observations and I have found that a majority of stores in suburban areas are getting around 50 copies of SSBB. I know the GameStop by me got around 70 and the Target by me got almost exactly 50 as they had them all laying out in at the electronics section cashier. This abundant supply of the title bodes well for the March future.
Its simple controls and gameplay make it remarkably accessible to beginners yet still appealing to Smash Bros. veterans. With the inclusion of mostly lag-free online play and the ability to share screenshots, custom levels, and game replays with friends, it offers an unparalleled multiplayer experience previously unseen on the Wii.
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl isn't a giant leap forward from "Super Smash Bros. Melee," but it didn't have to be. This is going to be the game that Wii owners will be playing for the life of the system, and they're going to love every minute of it."
