Action Cam, "Play from an over the shoulder view, like Gears of War or Mass Effect, and join the fight from an all new perspective. Action Cam is designed to offer better visibility, depth, and feedback to the player than the normal first person view, as well as create a more visceral experience when battling it out in the arena."
Epic is very close to releasing an update to the Unreal Engine 3 editor, that comes with the PC version of UT3, that will allow UT3 mod-makers to cook their mods into the required PS3 format. Epic has been doing some internal testing and they hoping to expand to a wider group tomorrow or Friday. If all goes well then we should see the update released next week which is what Mark Reign expect's will happen.
There are various posts on the official UT3 forums saying that one of the user created mods 'Cooked' by Epic games is crashing PS3's.
People are pointing towards the 'Mutator' mod that was released.
As this is a user mod it is unclear who will look into this problem as if Epic look into the problems they will simply be a free testing arm for PS3 user mods and this task will become impossible once they release their utility for pc users to cook mods themselves.
"The PlayStation 3 version of Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III has long been crowed about as the first game on Sony's console to support user created content, such as mods and maps. Today, owners of UTIII have their first taste of homebrewed PS3 add-ons, as FileFront presents the game's first player-created map, DM-Shrine, for download. The deathmatch map is designed for 2-6 players and was built by 23 year-old Thomas Browett of Nottingham."
If you've never played Unreal Tournament before, this is a must-own game on PS3. It's still the most frantic, engrossingly intense first-person shooter formula out there and even after eight years still proves to be wildly entertaining. It certainly helps that Epic has done a terrific job of making this game run on PS3, as well as provide tons of tweaking extras like server filters, customization options, and input alternatives that you typically don't see in a console game.
How much that speaks to the narrowing gap between PC and console provides ample fodder for the broader debate that rages across the Net. While that's happening, Unreal Tournament 3 makes a strong argument that it belongs on PS3 regardless of its other venues.
After a few hours tinkering around with Epic's PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3, we have to say we're very impressed. Epic has, at least upon initial examination, done a great job making sure PS3 users get the full Unreal Tournament experience. Not only does it control well with the SIXAXIS, but the game features fully customizable mouse and keyboard support, along with the ability to load in mods.
