Halo 3's got a somewhat popular online component, and has had one since it launched (hey, it's Halo). Ever wonder how many multiplayer games that actually equates to, though? Try over one billion. Yup, Bungie's near-OCD obsession with tracking numbers means that we now know that at 18:36 PT on February 28, a four-player Infection match was the one billionth played since the game's release in September 07.

Bungie issued a video acceptance speech at the Edge Awards earlier this month which sparked any number of rumors, including the addition of bots and support for Halo 3 single-player objects and NPCs being added to Forge. All of those dreams were shot down this past week as Bungie issued a denial on all of these rumors in its most recent Weekly Update.

In the last 24 hours about 1.2 Million unique players where counted playing Halo 3 online. So there are minimum 1.2 Million copy's of Halo 3 already sold and in the hands of users. The real number could be quite higher, but 1.2 Million are definitely sold.

Master Chief Puts Spidey in Crosshairs; MS Looking to Top $155 Mil for Halo 3 Debut Halo 2 was the biggest single day entertainment sales record, and Microsoft has every intention of leaving Halo 2 in the dust when Halo 3 launches on September 25. The company is aiming to knock Spidey off his web by beating Spider-Man 3's boxoffice debut of $151 million. Microsoft likes to trumpet their Halo 2 sales figure of $125 million in its first 24 hours at almost every chance they get, but according to a new report in Variety, Microsoft has a new target in its crosshairs: Spider-Man 3. The company has already stated repeatedly that they fully expect Halo 3 to top Halo 2's first-day sales record, but it would appear that Microsoft would like to edge out Spider-Man 3's opening weekend at the boxoffice, which brought in a record $151 million for Sony Pictures.

3 new Halo 3 maps will be released December 11th for the price of 800 MS Points ($10) The new maps are Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry. In addition the maps will be available for FREE in Spring 2008, shortly before a new map pack will be realeased. Hit the link for more details on the maps themselves.

An Aussie got his hands on 2 copys of PAL Halo3 and put them on ebay. Quote: "The games sold at first bid for AU$149 - only fifty Australian bucks more for the privilege of playing it a fortnight earlier than the rest of us."
