In an unfortunate cross-cultural coincidence, Halo developer Bungie has inadvertently drawn parallels to a famous child abduction case to promote its new Halo 3 expansion pack. In a new teaser trailer, which depicts a war-torn city landscape, various messages flash up on the screen, including one that asks "Maddie, where are you?"

Microsoft is hiring out London's iMax cinema, the UK's largest cinema screen, for the launch of Bungie's Halo 3 next week. Celebrities including broadcaster Jonathan Ross (who provides voice talent for the game) and producer Pharrell Williams will be on hand at the event to add some glitz to proceedings.

"Development on Halo 3 is winding down," Bungie staffer and former journalist Luke Smith announced in the studio's most recent weekly update. "While there's still a considerable amount of dudes here on site, playing through the game, testing the game, filing bugs and fixing bugs, the game is roughly 99.9 percent complete."

IGN got to try the video editor in Halo 3 and they confirm that it is as robust as people have hoped. Wannabe film editors can view the battle from overhead or anyone's perspective, skip parts, even view parts in slo-mo or take pictures. This same video editor can also be used in campaign mode.

Today's winner of the Internet is Xbox 360 Achievements as they have uncovered the full achievements list to the most anticipated game of the year, Halo 3. More Halo 3 beta code mining has resulted in the finding of what looks to be the names of all of the multiplayer maps that we'll be playing in Halo 3. The 7th Columnist, with the help of a few others, discovered the map names while searching through the code for juicy Halo 3 information. There's our beta maps Valhalla, Snowbound, and High Ground listed and even recently announced maps Last Resort and Shrine. But there's others we haven't heard about like Chill, Construct and Warthog Inc that make our imaginations run wild. Full list of all twelve Halo 3 map names after the break.

Game Informer sits down for interview with Shane Kim (Microsoft Game Studios) about Halo 3 and other topics. The focus of the Halo 3 talk is the business side of things with a particularly interesting answer about the overall marketing and distribution strategy. "I believe Halo 3 will be bigger than Halo 2, and we set a record on Halo 2. The reason I believe that is because retailers have history now. ... So the retailers themselves are going to get behind this in a huge way."
