32nm Chips By Late 2009?

Kotaku - December 10, 2007

Submitted by ixaarii (444) at 12:35PM PST on December 10, 2007

"IBM made a major announcement today that they will be offering 32nm chips to their partners in the second half of 2009. This would mean that, yes, the Xbox 360 could get even smaller chips than the 65nm "Falcon" CPUs..or the rumored 45nm upgrade. We're talking power savings of 45% and speed boosts of 30% over IBM's last generation of hardware...it's flat-out better technology that will reduce the propensity of overheating drastically, and maybe even make way for a smaller console."

Xbox 360 was born on November 22, 2005. That means it's time to bake a cake, put on silly hats, and sing a song for Microsoft's big white box. It's been one hell of a year for Microsoft, with plenty of ups and only a few downs. To celebrate its second birthday, IGN is taking a look back at some of the biggest stories of the past twelve months.

Best Buy: Free Xbox 360 With HDTV Purchase

bestbuy.com - November 19, 2007

Submitted by feelmyring (351) at 11:31AM PST on November 19, 2007

This isn't really an article, but I thought it to be more important than just a comment. It looks like Best Buy is essentially giving away an Xbox 360 with the purchase of a Sony 56" DLP. It actually ends up being cheaper than the non-sale price of the TV for the bundle. It's Sun-Wed only, but still a great deal.

Though the details differ from previous rumors- $50 drop, happening on August 8th- the source is likely different from those providing previous rumors, which would grant additional weight to the rumor.

Following my outing of the 16GB iPhone I have once again have attained from a rock solid source that Microsoft WILL be replacing the 20GB hard drive on the standard Xbox 360 with a larger 60GB version. Dates are not nailed down, but my source says Microsoft wants it done and dusted before the end of its financial year which translates as our Q2.
