4 million have NOT been pre-ordered. That was a bad rumor from an anonymous retail source.
One month ago Microsoft announced that 1 million have been pre-ordered. Even accounting for a ton of pre-orders in the past month, it it likely under 2 million still (they'd have another press release if it passed it).
4 million in 1 week is simply impossible. Don't get me wrong, this game will sell incredibly well, and quite possibly sell more in its first week than any game ever has before ... but i just can't imagine half of all 360 owners will run out and buy this game week 1.
@kspraydad, not to mince words, but a FUTURE and a STOCK are totally different...there's no such thing as a "future stock" =P.
I do think it is rather bullish, but many Xbox 360 owners bought the console exclusively for this game. This is the reason they got the console in the first place and they been waiting a long time to play it. I believe there will be a disporportianate amount of sales on day 1 and week 1.
According to VG (??) there are 6.96 Million Xboxs in the US...lets say 7.2 for end of September.
Are we REALLY expecting to sell this game to 55% of ALL US Xbox owners in the first week of sales? Is there an example of this kind of first week attachment rate in any non launch of a console game?
@atrus50, as Deltaneutral has explained to you, the IPO prices posted on the futures at this time are just filler numbers. They really have no bearing on where the Halo 3 futures will begin trading.
In IPO Phase 1, the price of Halo 3 futures will be determined entirely by the prices players are willing to buy and sell at. This could begin at 300 or 400 DKP--it is entirely up to what players think are realistic first month numbers for Halo 3.
Please take a look at the IPO tutorial and post in the help section if you have any questions.
