One thing to take into consideration is the books. I know many people that have never played a Halo game that love the books. If you have finished Ghosts of Onyx, you will either have to buy this game, or have a friend tell you the ending. Onyx was a NY Times best seller. I would say that opens the game to a new market that might not have purchased it.
Looking through the pics for this game, a reminder is in order (especially to ralph1471, who has been consistently having this problem, and XxPostCarnagexX, whose top 2 pics still exhibit this error):
For all content submissions, make *sure* you have only one http portion. Otherwise your links will not work and you'll get downbid (especially if you make this mistake on the thumbnail and the image).
Most veterans don't have this problem, but new members, especially those intending on contributing a lot of content, should be careful of this.
This game will be great, the prevous ones were. Hopfuly they will add some good content to it. It is very true, many will buy halo 3 no matter how good or bad it is.
@Potatoarecool You are misinformed. Halo 3 is not the Halo 2 engine in HD. Most of the screenshots are old alpha gameplay, many months old. They are Halo 2 placeholder textures. So really you are not seeing the true Halo 3. H3 is set to outsell anything that comes out for awhile. So investing in this game is a no-brainer. Hell, the beta will outperform the large majority of games that come out this year. Good, thing that is being sold in Crackdown.
well, this game may seem good, but it is realy only the Halo 2 engine in HD. I don't expect much, but it will still sell. I just hope enough new stuff is put in to warrant it being a hit.
Honestly this game has so much residual hype from Halo 2 that Halo 3 will sell no matter how bad a game it might be. Not to judge on the quality of this game but it is essentially the video game equivalent of a hollywood blockbuster. It'll sell because of its past accomplishments and that will give it huge initial sales.
Remember also that we are forecasting lifetime sales. In another five years there will likely be more 360's out there an original x-boxes and a lot of people will pick up Halo 3 when they get the system even if thats not for two or three years. Halo is just that kind of game.
