@ixaarii, likely either someone taking a big short position on it or someone closing out their position on the game. Theres a bit of disagreement about whether or not this game will do well, some people have very big positions in it so you'll see big jumps when it moves.
@kspraydad, 2 million is a great game, but by big deal I mean the AAA Killer App that would get people pouring into stores to buy PS3s, like a Halo or a Gears of War or a Final Fantasy or a Gran Turismo.
How many copies of a PS3 game, in your opinion, need to be sold to be considered a 'big deal'
As far as I know Motorstorm has sold approx 1.5 million on a sub 6 million install base...Same thing for Resistance. As MS is a pack in with the 80GB and Resisitance will likely be at some point I'd say they both have a good chance to be +2 million sellers in the long term.
@Just_Ben, have to agree with pilias_simber here. Lair was touted as a AAA console mover killer app for the PS3 for at least a year. When Gears of War came out for 360 and Resistance wasn't quite comparable, PS3 fans were talking about how Lair was going to change everything. I heard people saying it was going to be one of the biggest things this generation. The hype was pretty crazy for Lair a year ago. Obviously, in retrospect, Motorstorm wasn't a big deal, Lair was a total bomb, and HS is just mediocre so far.
Things don't look good for the supposed AAA killer apps for the PS3. This is where trading the Metacritic futures are interesting though as it gives us a more concrete indicator of how the reviews will be.
I don't know, I never saw lair as hyped. Heavenly Sword was hyped, and got a good revival as the PS3 price dropped in Europe. Lair, nea I'm note so sure.
You didn't see how badly Lair was hyped before it came out?
Heavenly Sword was touted as the next God of War and Lair was touted as a surefire AAA hit by many people, as was Motorstorm before it was released. Some of the hype died after it kept getting delayed though.
Lair hyped? My guess it was negative hyped than. I can't remember a game that was so bashed for it's controls by reviews. The hype faded of after the third review, is my guess.
@Just_Ben, I certainly agree the hype is big, but the PS3 is seriously hurting. It doesn't take much for a game to be considered "big" for the PS3 anymore. Look at HS and Lair...both hugely hyped. Lair was a flop but HS is considered well for a PS3 game, and we marked that stock down to 90.

were there is a lot of disagreement.
