After the 1st review was posted, the article was retracted claiming they wanted to review the final version... GameRevolver have a copy of the article, & share significant excerpts. Article highlights some real differences between the 360 & PS3 versions of the game, for ex: claims only PS3 has splitscreen multiplayer. Shares the good & bad parts of the game.
@felipedmoreira, I think you chose the best citation to include, as the driving and shooting are so integral to gameplay and previous GTA's have been put down by reviewers for the shooting/combat controls.
Yeah, This article is really interesting... There were a lot of things I wanted to put here... but it does not fit :/ So the part I write here is more relative to the headline
@felipedmoreira, I especially like these quotes from the article you posted:
"It's certainly tighter, both in terms of the way Liberty city is structured and the way in which the narrative feels more movie-like than before. Otherwise, everything feels as if it's been given the next-gen treatment; in particular the driving and shooting are light years ahead of past GTAs. Overall, it's a stratospheric leap forward, beyond anything I'd imagined."
"so many small, chucklesome Easter Egg-style surprises that you're constantly shaking your head at just how savvy a developer Rockstar really is"
"the incredible dialogue and characterisation is genuinely Oscar-worthy and Niko Bellic is absolutely the most amazing protagonist in any game I've ever played"
"GTA IV. By a country mile. It craps on all the others – even the mighty Vice City – from a height equivalent to the Statue of Happiness. Believe me, GTA IV is even better than the hype suggests!" ------------------------- I posted these because over the last few weeks I've become much more interested in GTA IV than I was, and I realize some may not go read the whole article. But if you find this info enjoyable upbid felipedmoreira's article, not this post.
How did it all pan out then? Where did you play it?
So we got the call from Rockstar to come up on the March 26 and play for three straight days in a row – including a Saturday! We'd usually kick off at 9 or 10ish in the moring, play until 8 or 9 at night, then go eat, then crash before getting up the next morning and do it all over again. Sat in front of a 60" LCD screen in a dark room for nigh on 30 hours – now that's hardcore!
"the driving and shooting are light years ahead of past GTAs"
@deftangel, Don't worry. You could get good profit in the future, since there is no longer any future to invest in, member are forced to invest in GLS, and this stock might be one of those who will receive "fresh shorting", so to speak.
I am also close to my 2000 netbids, just like you :).
I started trading early Jan so I'm up to 35% already! Approx 3.5m worth. With a bit of luck I will hit 2000 netbids shortly to get some more cash to invest. I will continue to short this (the PS3 one) to high heaven as it's grossly over-valued.
The other 65% of equity I shall reserve for shorter term investments :)
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the developer has produced an edited version of the game in order to get a MA15+ rating in the region, with the Office of Film and Literature Classification warning consumers the game contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references."
If Hudson Square Research analyst Daniel Ernst is right, Rockstar Games and Take-Two are going to have a very merry 2008. Ernst lays out the research firm's "top 20 game unit sales and revenue" for the calendar year, projecting that Grand Theft Auto IV will kill the competition with 13 million copies sold. That would mean GTA IV's sales for the year would exceed that of the Grand Theft Auto III's lifetime to date figure and approach total sales of Vice City.
