@tyrile, Anyone else think that this claim "pre-orders ahead of expectations" might be caused by EA takeover bid ? To calm down Take Two shareholder perhaps, and made them refuse EA's $26 offer ?
The biggest game of the year is gathering momentum ahead of its release next month...
We all know GTA4 is going to sell well. The first in the series to enjoy the benefits of a simultaneous launch on both major formats, GTA4 is widely expected to surpass sales of even the mighty San Andreas, which currently stands at 21.5 million units.
i take it you think that i was the one who downbid you then based on your comment, when in fact i didnt and was simply trying to help you by pointing out a possible reason for someone else doing it as not reading every post is of course understandable. the fact though that announcing a previously expected and known RRP is kind of pointless imo still stands.
kind of a pointless article as the issue has already been discussed here for the original submission of the price discrepency at WHSmiths. The RRP of a game being the standard £50 is really not news worthy even with the slight WHSmiths confusion.
Earlier this week a number of websites began writing stories claiming that the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV would cost more than the Xbox 360 version in the UK. The rumor began at Videogaming247 and was based on a poster hung in the window of a branch of WH Smith.
According to 1Up, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will run at 30 frames per second, and they look mostly identical to one another. Granted, the PS3 version of GTAIV is a touch behind in the development phase - which we already knew - but it will still launch at the same time as the 360 edition. Now, 30 fps may be unacceptable in the current world of first-person shooters, but if it's steady, it should work out just fine for GTAIV.
