In regards to the delay of GTA IV, I would say that this could help the sales of the PS3 version. This is because the more people who own a PS3 when this game launches, the more games it will sell at launch - its that simple. Also, at this time a high number of PS3 buyers are hardcore gamers who have a very good chance of buying this game. The only thing that could be bad for this IPO is missing the holiday period, but it will probably see a boost in sales for the holiday period following its release.
Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday delayed its most important upcoming video game, "Grand Theft Auto IV", and warned that it would post a full-year loss, before one-time items, sending shares down 12.5 percent.
"We are very disappointed to reduce guidance after having previously reaffirmed it," Ben Feder, the chief executive who is part of a new management team at the troubled company, said in a statement, referring to the company's previous assessment, in June.
The game, which had been scheduled for release in October, is now planned for release in the second quarter of Take-Two's fiscal 2008.
It's cheeky - and sometimes crude - humour has become an essential component of every Grand Theft Auto game, and thankfully the fourth instalment on Xbox 360 and PS3 is as gag-filled as ever.
In our recent demo we chuckled at plenty of GTA IV's infamous radio ads, and here's just a few of them we managed to capture on our notepad...
Read part one of our massive GTA IV preview, and part two for cops, shootouts and lawyers. Brand new, hi-res screens included! It'd be a damn, dirty lie to say that the next-gen Liberty City didn't look great, but in our recent demo we quickly settled back into our comfort zone and everything felt very GTA again.
That said, Rockstar has hit the nail on the head where the real estate is concerned; for the first time GTA's locale looks, feels and sounds like a realistic city, and not just streets of copycat buildings mixed in with the occasional shop or landmark..........
At any point in GTA IV Niko can pull out his mobile phone and use it to his heart's content. The phone shows up in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and looks exactly how you'd expect a real phone to look, with a phonebook, buttons and all.
"All GTAs have non-linear gameplay and player choice," says our right hand man, "the phone call extends that concept.".......
New Screens as well!!!
Even if it was called 'Free-roaming Mafia shooter IV' Rockstar's new GTA would still be the biggest game of the year. That's because even without the brand, the hype and the moaning lawyers, it's shaping up to be a bloody impressive game...........
so this and the xbox version are up 4-5% today at the moment. I wonder is there any way of showing a correlation between the price rising and an influx of new users on the site? Might be interesting to compare them
your way too overly optimistic. i think its safe to say that almost all of this games sales will come within 2 - 2.5 years of release (at that time we'll be on here talking about the GTA5 stock).
lets say starting now, PS3 sales start to skyrocket. By the end of the year they over double what they have hit in their first 8 months since release putting them at 8 million worldwide at the end of 2007. Next year it sells even faster and they pick up 12 million. 2009 even better and they sell 15 million. (which is in itself virtually unbelievable), putting PS3 sales at 35 million worldwide by the end of 2009.
now based on your projected sales numbers that would give almost a 20% attachment rate (on a VERY optomistic number of PS3s sold) to a game series that has never even broke higher than 12.1%, and has never had a competing (and cheaper) (and more content available) system selling the same game, at the same time.
i do agree with pillas, the stock price won't reflect the truth for quite some time to come, as people buy based on hype. i would stay away from this stock right now, wait for the overall growth to go through the hype and launch, and then short and double your money over the following few months.

I am not so sure as I think GTA IV is a system seller for Sony so this will have a negative impact.
What is good news is that both the 360 and PS3 versions are delayed.
