Nintendo's profit for 2010 slumped, despite the fact that the company managed to sell 3.61 million Nintendo 3DS portable systems. The Japanese games company profits plummeted during 2010, with a massive decline of 66% from 2009's fiscal year. As Engadget has reported, Nintendo's Wii sales have dropped between the two years by a quarter, with the console having sold fifteen million units during 2010, compared to the twenty million it sold during 2009.

Today in Japan, Nintendo confirmed the upcoming release of the Wii's successor. The still-unnamed console will be revealed at this year's E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles in June.

If this image showing an email circulated amongst GameStop stores is legit, then the humble Nintendo DS Lite may now be a thing of the past. Having been first succeeded by two models of the DS, the DSi and DSi XL, and now by an all-new handheld, the 3DS, the writing has been on the wall for a while now regarding the future of the DS Lite.

Report: Sony stops PSP Go production

There is mounting evidence that Sony has stoped production of the PSP Go. When asked for comment a representative Sony of America for clarification, stated, "We are going to continue to make shipments of PSPgo." However many retailers are reporting little to no new shipments of th unit.

Nintendo Wii Listed for $170 at all Major US Retailers

It seems that big box retailers have already begun offering discounts on the Nintendo Wii, dropping the price from $200 to $170. It's not exactly a full-on, official price drop -- not yet, at least -- but it certainly looks like one is imminently approaching. Many analyst believe Nintendo will be reducing the MSRP of the Wii to $150 in the coming months.

Sony announced this morning that it shipped over 8 million units of the Move controller to retailers worldwide as of April 3. The company also noted that the PlayStation Move "ecosystem," which includes the PS Eye, Move navigation controller and Move-friendly software, "continues to see strong momentum at retail." (The company had shipped 4.1 million Moves by last November.) Sony also mentioned that PS3 sales have reached 50 million units worldwide.

PSP overtakes 3DS in weekly Japanese hardware sales ranking

After only a month on the market the 3DS has lost it's spot in the Japan handheld market to the PSP. The 3DS fell behind the PSP by a margin of about 15,000 units. What's more, according to a report from Japanese news site Inside Games, only around 836,000 3DS units have been sold in Japan so far -- a little over half of the initial Japanese shipment.

BioWare today confirmed Dragon Age II has sold - not shipped - over 1 million copies worldwide in less than two weeks. To celebrate, the BioWare is offering fans that purchased the game the option of receiving the PC version of Mass Effect 2 for free. The world of professional gaming is about to heat up. Later this month, IGN is launching the first season of its new eSports Pro League with an invitational tournament featuring combatants from top North American StarCraft II clans. A total of 16 players from nine different clans have been selected.Contestants will duke it out over the course of eight brutal days and compete for $5,000 in prizes and four automatic qualifier spots for the second IPL season.
