Oh, just something I thought of. I knoe this has been covered before, but I think that the price to bid on content should be raised (possibly the reward too). The simExchange rules say that the price is to help generate bids in the way a user truly believes, but even starting out with I mil. DKP, 100 DKP is throwaway money. I don't know what an appropriate price should be and I don't want to seem elitist since I am highly-ranked in lifetime networth and do have a lot of cash.
Maybe 500 DKP for a bid? I think 1000 would be too steep and less would still be too insignificant. 250 maybe? If the price to bid is increased, I do have to say that the rewards for bidding (others bidding the same way as you, original submitter DKP recieved) should probably increase as well.
Does anyone else wish there was a way to create an article that didn't repeat for multi-platform titles? Like instead of Resident Evil 5 for 360 when submitting an article, I could submit to a general Resident Evil 5 area where both the PS3 and 360 versions would see the article. Most of the time, news applies to every format in a multi-plat. title (PS3, 360, PC here mostly), so this would be a convenient way to display news to everyone, especially if one tends to follow a particular version.
Could be implemented using a new stock page that contains all the stocks for a title (every platform, metacritic, etc.), then differentiated if a certain news was about a particular version either by applying specific tags when submitting or just regulated by community in terms of titling the content.
Thoughts anyone? I'm willing to take any feedback.
The problem I could see with Media Create futures is when do you lock them? First day numbers are usually a big indicator as are leaked famitsu numbers.
Hardware wise this year MC numbers have been extremely predictable week to week.
I'm not sure in practice if there would be much profit to be made without massive investment, like the metacritic futures and they aren't all that popular really.
I already proposed a system based off of Media Create, Enterbrain or MediaWorks sales numbers to KultofCows, which is why I did not bring in up in this instance. And I realized that a system based off of charts would be hard to translate into our current system of dealing with stocks. The ultimate point is that it would be beneficial to the community to have a new type of Futures system.
@Gaara42, I don't think the system that you proposed would work well. Trading on the proposed new types of futures would be limited to the different arbitrary amounts (e.g. 100DKP, 80DKP) and there would not be much reason for trading in between those amounts. Futures need to be based on numbers that are not limited inherently.
Instead of something based off of the charts that only have place in Europe, why not have a Japanese future for first week sales of a certain title - the numbers are easily available to settle each time and would spread the cashing out of these futures over a larger time period, creating a more dynamic market where more DKP is moving about at any given time.
Proposing an idea for a new type of future based off of Chart Track and other European chart producers. How do you all think a future based off of predicting where games will settle on the charts should be handled? Should 1st correspond to 1DKP or should we use some other selection criteria, such as 100DKP is 1st, 80DKP is for second and so on? I think this could add another series of futures that are based on future public information.
@apujanata, In regards to your question, see what the article says about the pool of traders:
"...forecasting also needs more so-called noise traders, who do business with almost no information. Noise traders boost accuracy by increasing volume and the potential profits of informed traders."
@lstormy10, "But the success of any market depends upon the stakes and the pool of traders".
Since there was no selection criteria for simEx players, is this an issue ? I know that the DKP each player have is "selection criteria", but time bonus DKP and community bonus might "dillute" the selection criteria (albeit in a minimum way).
