What I wanted to know is this : Is it possible for you to go alone against the market ? I see you have 82 Million DKP, which is ranked 2.
We were talking about Wii GLS, which are absurdly high. The consensus is that the price should be significantly lower than today's price, but kspraydad, me and probably some other people, are frustrated that our effort to "correct" the price always failed. Some of the problem is the diversification rule, other is our limited short margin.
I thought that maybe, when we got to a certain size, like you or zukaus, we can go against the market alone. Doing it alone might not be wise, and might not be most efficient, but "could it be done, alone" ?
I hope this post clarified my question.
Regarding content DKP, since I mostly focused on article, my netbid of 3735 means I got 3.7 Million DKP from it. My own tracking of content bidding bonus total is 5.5 Million, which mean that I got about 1.8 Million from upbiding other people's post. This total are missing about 2 months data, since my HD crashed, and I lost about 2 months worth of data.
That 5.5 Million, which didn't include community bonus, is a significant percentage of my networth. This is what Musashi was talking about. I think your calculation is wrong. Since you have 9.5 K netbid, your content bonus should be at least 9.5K x 1K = 9.5 Million DKP.
I could be wrong in my calculation, but I don't think I was wrong.
@apujanata, I am trying this again since for some strange reason my last last post did not show any of the text I wrote. I am not familar with what you're asking about in this post, see Permalink. What are you asking about?
@apujanata, I'm not in favor of getting rid of DKP for content submissions. However, I would be in favor of larger DKP bonuses to lower community ranked members. I think that new members are less likely to know about the type of content that is valuable to the SE, they may not post as much or visit the site as often, therefore you would likely have content that benefits the SE to not be posted as often. Or it could encourage new users to post content that does not help the SE.
I don't see content DKP as having a big effect on users overall DKP. If you get 250, 750, 1000 respectively for images, articles, & videos. Take my amount of submissions for instance total 666 x an avg of (250+750+1000)/3 = 666 DKP, but much more articles & lessly images, than videos so 666 x 575 = 383,000. When you consider 383,000 to my net worth I don't think it is a large percentage.
I'm wondering though...in a real stock market there is a limit to the number of shares available...is there such a limit at TSE? Seems you can trade with the computer in perpetuity (within certain limits per day)...does this not cause/create this kind of issue as well?
As for trading on NPD...I did mention earlier having 1 year World Wide Console stocks verified by the console makers own quarterly reports.
And one last thing - for all my fellow shorters out there - the time-trust is generally a good thing - as it keeps people constantly bullish on things you are shorting.
Why is that good? Well, ultimately the biggest way to send a stock tumbling (aside from the "Big Players" joining together and crushing it) - is for investors to dump it. When reality ultimately sets in that a game isn't going to do as well as predicted, you want the people who invested in the stock to sell it instead of just ignoring it and leaving the Exchange forever (this is less of an issue when actual $$$ is involed - sorry Europeans, I can't do the Pound/Euro sign).
On that note - I think I might have a good solution to this "bloated stock syndrome". I noticed that the CPU-automated buy/sell quotes are for roughly 70-75K DKP a level. That means even a little guy can affect a stock's price by maxing out their 250K/350K DKP limits.
If the automated levels increased to 150K or even 200K DKP, I think it would put more pressure on investors and keep things in check.
Also, I think that instead of just handing out money for gaining community levels - submitting content should give an increase to the "diversification rule" - so community level 7 is allowed to invest, say, 75% of their net worth. Far-fetched, and probably not the best idea, but I get upset when I have funds lying around that I can't dump into a "sure thing".
Though, I understand why creating and handing out more and more DKP is useful to the site.
Also, I didn't mean to sound condescending or anything. I don't know if you guys are into the actual market or not - but I really find this site to be a good way to get people familiar with real stock trading. So if you're all self-made millionaire day-traders, then just ignore anything I say.
Market price and "true value" are rarely the same - even in the real stock market. As I've said earlier, hardware numbers should be considered growth stocks. They're trading with very high projections (think high PE ratios in the actual market - Google PE ratio if you aren't familiar with it).
Companies trade with high PE ratios all the time. They're growth stocks - projected earnings are higher than actual value.
The market is saying that they're expecting long-term growth this generation - and current NPD numbers (think: quarterly earnings) will only continue to increase over time.
Or it's just a bunch of PS3/360 fans who don't know exactly what they're buying (that happens in the actual stock market, too).
Either way, fighting the market is tough - especially when there's so much upward momentum. And like real stocks, sometimes you need to play the waves rather than what you think the ultimate price will be (though I don't do that with actual money - I prefer the buy-and-hold mentality).
I agree that these hardware numbers are insane, but the market is bullish, so instead of selling into a bull market - buy it. When NPDs hit and hard numbers are being posted hinting at a decline, sell.
Again, a lot of these are not considered "investments" but support by fans. It's just like people buying any stock for a company they're fond of - regardless of the trading price.
I honestly think the biggest issue with the Exchange - as I said before - is just lack of information. What changed between today and last week to merit a huge increase in hardware sales - or any future sale for that matter? Nothing, really - because video game news really isn't very frequent.
That's also why I support NPD trading so much, because those have set dates with actual numbers. The ROI (return on investment) is generally lower than bloated stocks (see Diablo 3), but it's an immediate return.
If the news has true price moving value to price of GLS or future, it will be posted i think. Most news posted has little real price moving value, players mainly post for DKP i think.
It just distorts ranking.
If KultofCows implemented a true, trade only lifetime ranking leaderboard,it would be interesting to see the change in rankings.
If it was my choice, community bonus would not exist, and all community rank 7 players would lose the 5-7 million DKP we gained from it.
