Xbox revenue at $4.24B in Q2, Xbox Live hits 40 million

Since last August, Xbox Live has grown by another 5 million members to 40 million in total worldwide, helping to grow Microsoft's second quarter financial earnings in the Xbox division by 15 percent from the previous quarter. So, what did the Xbox division pull in between October 1 and December 31 (its financial "Q2") in terms of actual dollars? About $4.24 billion, says the company in its latest financial earnings statement

NPD: U.S. video game sales down 21 percent in December

Article date Jan 13, 2012 NPD found that video game sales in the U.S. were down 21 percent in December compared to a year ago, and 2011 came in some 8 percent behind 2010 in overall sales.

Overall sales were up 0.4% from a year ago to $3 billion. Video game hardware sales were down 9%, and accessories were off 34%, but software sales were up 15%, or 16% including PC games.

NPD: October video game sales rise 1 percent

U.S. retail sales of video game hardware, software and accessories rose 1 percent to $1.08 billion in October, helped by sales of "Battlefield 3," market researcher NPD Group said Friday.

Nintendo reports 1H net loss, slashes forecast

57.6 million Xbox 360 units have been sold worldwide

Posted over at Microsoft’s website, the report indicates that 57.6 million Xbox 360 consoles have been shipped worldwide as of September 30, though the number of units shipped this quarter (2.3 million) is down when compared to the same period last year (2.8 million).

U.S. retail sales of video game hardware, software and accessories dipped 4 percent to $1.13 billion in September, according to market researcher NPD Group. Sales of the games themselves grew somewhat, but this was overshadowed by lower sales of game consoles and accessories.

August NPD: Annual sales drop again, Deus Ex top spot

Gaming hardware saw an increase in sales over July, largely fueled by the price cuts endured by the 3DS and PlayStation 3. According to a memo sent out by Nintendo following the NPD report, the 3DS discount moved 185,000 consoles from August 12 through the end of the month. This wave managed to increase dollar and unit sales of handheld hardware to a year-over-year increase over August 2010, which bucks the downward trend followed by the rest of the industry
