The TOKYO GAME SHOW 2009 will be using "green power" - just as it did last year - to contribute to the conservation of the global environment. All 280,000 kWh of the power consumed at the common areas of the show will be generated by a biomass power station. Games and Preservation - the next order word...

Bethesda Sues Interplay Over Fallout Trademark Infringement

Bethesda Softworks has filed suit against Interplay, the company it purchased rights to the Fallout franchise from in 2007, citing trademark infringement and attempting to terminate its right to make a Fallout-themed MMO.

Analysts: August To See Last NPD Monthly Decline Of 2009

NPD sales figures will see yet another month of year-over-year declines in the U.S. retail console game market, according to estimates by Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter, but the analyst expects that the industry will see year-over-year growth starting in September through the remainder of 2009.

Xbox 360 sales predictably spike in UK after price drop

GfK Chart-Track notes the Xbox 360 had a 43 percent sales increase over the weekend in the UK, following the price drop which sent the console's Elite version to a friendlier £199. With Sony's PS3 Slim model expected to hit the region this week, it'll be interesting to compare the percentage increase in sales for both consoles. We'd prefer actual sales numbers instead of percentages, but that's apparently not happening.

Walt Disney Company agrees to acquire iconic comic book company Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. More than 5,000 iconic comic book characters will soon be in the hands of Disney, raising serious questions about the future of Marvel video game titles from Activision, Sega, THQ, and the upcoming MMO from Gazillion Entertainment.

Germany overtakes UK or did it?

Gamesindustry original reported a story of Germany overtaking the UK in Game sales in Europe. The company is expected to release a correction shortly. It is understood that Germany is not a bigger games market than the UK. This is the second time in as many weeks that GfK Chart-Track data has been publicly questioned. Last week, Nintendo contacted GamesIndustry.biz following confusion over UK sales figures for the first half of the year.

The Nintendo Wii has outsold all other consoles in the UK by some margin so far this year, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal, notching up almost 800,000 units shifted since the beginning of January. UK installed base as of week 31 this year standing at: * Nintendo Wii: 5.5 million * Nintendo DS: 1.6 million * Nintendo DS Lite: 7.5 million * Nintendo DSi: 370,000
