Take-Two Interactive has shipped over 13 million copies of Grand Theft Auto IV, the company announced today, revealing sales of more than $256 million for its holiday 2008 quarter and a $50 million loss. GTA IV figures were dated to January 31st, prior to the release of the first downloadable episode The Lost And Damned.

Gamestop certainly have a habit of releasing information before it's public knowledge; call it an advertising blooper or their "don't give a shit" attitude, but it seems like they may have done it again ... this time with the upcoming GTA IV DLC. They've recently advertised the GTA IV DLC on their site with a price of $19.99 and although the content won't be sold in disc form, they'll be handing out codes with a double sided poster nonetheless

Grand Theft Auto IV is finally available around the world, and we are now able to offer you the First 10 minutes of this already legendary game. No mission in the video, only the long introduction cutscene which begins with Niko Bellic arriving in Liberty City by boat, and meeting with quite an energetic cousin. The video has been captured from the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Age ratings board the BBFC has told MCV that GTA IV has been given an 18 certificate, after initially banning fellow Rockstar title Manhunt 2. The confirmation means that Grand Theft Auto IV is all set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 29th.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has weighed in on the potentially objectionable content in Grand Theft Auto IV, giving it an "M" rating, citing the game as having "Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, Blood, and Intense Violence."

The problem is we’ve been fed the kool-aid, and everyone has decided that IV is the second coming of III. If we lived in a land of magical fairies who granted our wishes that would be spectacular. But reality has to hit at some point, and I’m betting on April 29th there are going to be a lot of people who stroll down the streets of Liberty City once again and think: "Hey, this seems familiar. Like I’ve done this in a lower resolution at some point."

"Rockstar Games has begun the "viral" portion of its Grand Theft Auto IV marketing campaign, posting convincing wanted posters on Brooklyn-area telephone poles featuring Niko Bellic, the game's protagonist. The GTA IV poster also features an e-mail address and web site for the Liberty City Police Department. While the site isn't currently up, the e-mail auto responder is."

Amazon of UK recently changed the listings for it's two system versions of Grand Theft Auto IV, the next big title in the franchise from Rockstar Games. For the PS3, it lists the release as April 25, 2008. For the Xbox 360, it lists the release as March 31, 2008. Could the PS3 version be seeing a delay?

The gaming Industry is concerned at this point. It was counting on GTA 4 as being a heavy hitter in sales revenue this holiday season. GTA 4, Madden and Halo 3 combined were expected to be over 1/3 of this holiday's game sales, and be responsible for many consoles being sold for both Xbox 360 and the struggling PS3. Microsoft will be hurt because this was to be their 1-2 punch for the season because of their exclusive content, and Sony was expecting this to help them sell more units during the holiday season. The news also hurt Take Two's stock sending it down 12.5 percent.
