@-THE-RAY-, The long timeframe makes this rumor more probable for me. If they went say 1 year later Sony would be happy,Konami would get their money and 360 owners would get a big game no later than PC players get 360 exclusives sometimes: late enough for the word "exclusive" to matter but not long enough to become completelly irrelevant... or ...
Is this an attempt by Xboxfamily to spread FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt) so depress PS3 sales ? How trustworthy is Xboxfamily with rumours ? Any proven trackrecord with rumour (that turned out to be real) ?
Just another rumour? probably. It does not make business sense to stick with the PS3 when the title will have such a big development cost so it is probably inevitable.
Will the 360 community care about this game in 2 years time if we assume June is the release date of MGS4 for the PS3? probably but 2 years is long time I am not sure we will be that bothered which makes me think that if it does happen it would happen sooner.
01 January 2008 -- XboxFamily.com claims that a Konami distribution representative said that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. Speaking at a distribution meeting, the Konami rep allegedly informed XboxFamily.com that MGS4 had been in development for the Xbox 360 since early 2007 and will be released for the 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves.
"The retailer has targeted June 17 of 2008 as the game's ship date, near the end of the second quarter release Konami and Kojima Productions promised us on Halloween. While Gamestop has been known to apply impossible release dates to products without a definitive date and Konami itself hasn't officially announced such a specific timeframe, this one is looking largely legit."
After trailers, teasers, and countless printed column inches and disposable digital coverage you’d think we were all fully apprised of what to expect from Metal Gear Solid 4. But be it the cryptic information of dance of genius director Hideo Kojima keeping us constantly unbalanced or a simple case of being lost in translation, even some of the franchise’s most hardcore fans couldn’t definitively put a finger on how MGS4 would play.
Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) and its multiplayer side project Metal Gear Online (PS3) will be bundled together as one release, PlayStation: The Official Magazine has confirmed.

"Metal Gear Solid 4 is obviously going to sell very well when it’s released next year, but having all of this knowledge combined with the fact that nearly all of the previous (non-PSP) Metal Gear games have migrated eventually, it’s understandable that a lot of gamers aren’t feeling an urgent need to buy Sony’s big black box yet. Current hardcore PS3 owners are going to have a great time on launch day, but will significant numbers of newbies be joining them for the party? It’s doubtful."
