Delistings, August 20
In the past several weeks, we have listed a great number of new games for trading. We will be taking a break this week to consolidate the games we are predicting.
The following stocks are candidates for delisting. These stocks were chosen
for delisting due to inactivity in the stock and/or lack of discussion for an
extended period of time. Delisting stocks is necessary to unlock DKP for trading and concentrate
DKP in the stocks people are trading.
All shares will cash out at the last traded price. This price is determined as the fair value as the market has not viewed the price as undervalued or overvalued for some time. These stocks will no longer appear when browsing the genres and platforms pages. You will still be able to view the stocks' pages by searching for the games.
If you feel any of the following should not be delisted due to an upcoming event (such as the game has not yet been released in all regions), please make a case and post in this forum by 11PM on Wednesday, August 20. A stock price that you are not happy with is not grounds for continued listing.

The only problem with a regular delisting is that it is not guaranteed that there will be stocks to delist every time, but a staggering of delistings would work well.[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids

I agree with Joe80. Instead of getting 50 delisting at once, it is better to do a regular (say monthly) schedule of delisting, with about 5 - 10 games at one time.
That way, we can
- get money released for investing activities in a regular basis
- we don't have a huge day shock (delisting 40 stocks at once meant much bigger "free money" and "huge buying in a day" instead of "smaller buying in a day" if you stagger it into 4 times monthly event).[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids
2A user-friendly site will grow more, and more people in the prediction market will make the site more valuable to the industry. Trying to be valuable to the industy at the expense of fairness to users holding misvalued stocks is putting the cart before the horse.
You want to incentivize buying new, "more useful to the industry" stocks, but if you delist misvalued stocks, then you don't even incentivize getting the stock price right. Again, cart and horse.
Maybe instead of delisting, you need to stop selling new shares, and develop a stock buy-back program. If people are holding a stock at what they think is the correct value, it will end up working just like the delisting. If someone thinks the buy-back value is wrong, they can hold the stock and wait for sales numbers, but no one new can buy the stock.[ Elite ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 191 ]bids

Which is why I would want the stocks to have been delisted earlier, say 10 per week, instead of 50 all in one day. I think I had expressed interest in delisting games around June in the forum myself. I was stuck in about 20-40 stocks that I wished to pull out of but I knew I & the Sim Exchange would be better off if the games were delisted.

The number of games being delisted this time may seem large, but this is because we have not delisted games for several months. We were receiving strong interest from users to get a lot of titles delisted and the list became very big.
The games selected for delisting are old titles that have been around for a long time, which diminishes any further utility for forecasting a title's sales. Remember, the purpose of this site is to function as a prediction market, and from our feedback from the industry, predictions are really only useful up until the game goes gold. However, we also aim to refine that forecast once sales occur, but the value of trading these stocks fall off when people stop trading them. Players want to get their DKP out to trade new stocks without negatively impacting the forecast, which is why we need to delist stocks in a timely matter.[ Admin ]bids

0Mario & Sonic (DS), Geometry Wars, and Mario Party 8 have been reactivated for trading.
There really hasn't been any trading activity in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Brain Age 2, Big Brain Academy to continue listing. The games are also very old and any continual forecast of the games' sales are trivial to understanding the success of these titles.[ Admin ]bids

3Yep, it's way too early to delist a lot of these.
Stocks should be delisted when we're reletively certain about the eventual total sales of the game. Games like Brain Age 2 and Mario and Sonic DS still regularly show up in top 10 weekly charts across Europe and other PAL regions!!!
I've even been using Mario Party 8 as a place to unload my time trust, because I think we'll see it show up above 6 million shipped in Nintendo's Sept or Dec earnings report. Big Brain Academy and Pokemon D/P are others which I think will show up in Nintendo's earnings reports with 1M shipped in 2008.
Forget "upcoming events"; high current sales is an ongoing event. You're delisting 4 of my top 8 stocks, worth over 4.2 million DKP, and basically telling me "don't bother playing the long game."[ Elite ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 191 ]bids
4I thing it is way too early to delist some of these games. If you look at this list there are some games that have only been out for a couple of months and continue to sell very well. Also Pokemon Diamond/Pearl has alot of activity on a weekly basis, the market does not know what price it really needs to be at. 4Isn't it too early to delist Mario & Sonic DS ? The olympics are not even finished yet. And why only the DS version are delisted, but the Wii Version not delisted ?
I noticed that some stocks, like geometry wars (Wii), still have stock trading activities, as can be seen on the stock price, which fluctuate almost daily (in Geometry Wii case, between 15.08 and 14.54 DKP). Yeah, it doesn't have to be regular, but it need to be staggered / divided into smaller chunks (5 - 15 games at a time). The reason I mention a period is to ensure that KoC focused on trying to delist at least once a month.
